Honours
In 2009, the broader Opus partnership was the recipient of the inaugural New Zealand Architecture Medal, the highest level of achievement awarded by peers in the New Zealand Institute of Architecture (NZIA).
Objectives
A primary goal of Richard Daniel's is to cement the credibility of the architect in terms of design as well as function. He brings design to the forefront of his practice whether it be the clean lines of Hastings' Staples Rodway building or the organic forms of the new Hawke's Bay Regional Council offices. Recent work also includes new buildings at Woodford House School as well as the Gisborne Police Station.
Richard shares in the national management of one of New Zealand's most successful architecture firms and has led the Opus Architecture Hawke's Bay team for the past four years. He still maintains a very hands-on approach to practicing architecture and is a passionate advocate for projects that benefit community.
